Tahiti Honeymoon Information by Shauna Arthurs
When planning your honeymoon, it would be hard to find a place more romantic and beautiful than Tahiti.
Nestled among the Society Islands of French Polynesia, Tahiti is the largest and most well-known of the islands in the archipelago, which also includes Bora Bora and Moorea.
Tahiti, also known locally as known as Otaheite, actually looks like two islands, with an isthmus joining them in the middle, and is made of ancient volcanic rock. The northern, more populated portion is known as Tahiti Nui ("big Tahiti"), and the southern, smaller portion, is known as Tahiti Iti (you guessed it - "small Tahiti"!) and is not easily accessible except by hiking or by boat. You will find a delightful mix of modern amenities and peaceful, unspoiled tropical splendor.
In beautiful Tahiti you will enjoy lush tropical greenery and climate for your honeymoon, surrounded by crystal clear, warm turquoise water and lovely white sand beaches. One stunning way to enjoy Tahiti is by staying in one of a growing number of overwater bungalows. These are self-contained, luxurious little cabins that are built on stilts and are literally over the clear water; some have hammocks suspended over the water, and most have steps directly down to the sandy bottom...imagine being able to wade and swim right from your very own hotel room!
Because the island is one of many surrounding isles, another great way to enjoy this part of the world is with a cruise. This type of travel, usually luxurious smaller boats with a high crew-to-passenger ratio, is getting more popular in Tahiti and French Polynesia.
The island is so lush because it is in a tropical clime, and in fact it has a rainy season from November through April. Check with your travel agent on what the weather is likely to be when you are planning your honeymoon.
